Tara was born in Terrace, BC, Canada on October 16th, 1980. She moved to Vernon, BC in 1982 with her parents, Eileen & Harold Schaffner, and her older brother Jeremy. Tara attended West Vernon Elementary School, BX Elementary School, and Vernon Senior Secondary, where she graduated in 1998.
Tara loved to play volleyball, baseball, fastball and had many opportunities to play in several Rep Tournaments throughout BC and Washington. She loved the outdoors and nature and loved to snowboard. Her most memorable experiences were within completing the 'Earthquest Program' at VSS. After graduating, Tara travelled to Australia and throughout Europe before starting her College Education toward her career goal of Sports' Medicine.
Tara started out being a shy little seedling but grew into a full blossomed flower full of lovliness, sunshine, happiness, color, uniqueness, and a strength that was neverending. She blessed a part of us all that were lucky enough to have known her and loved her back with the same passion that she endured. Her roots were endlessly seeking wisdom, and a way to better herself and the world. Her dreams were always an active part of her life and she always strived to achieve them.
Tara was suddenly taken from us on September 29th, 1999 in a tragic auto accident. It was a tragic and shocking event when she was swept from our world, like a gentle breeze moves along a seed to plant in another place. We hope that Tara has been wisped into a place where she can lay her roots, begin and continue to flower like she was meant to. Tara will live in our hearts and memories forever!
Please always stop to smell the flowers and appreciate their beauty and uniqueness and think how lucky we are to have each flower, no matter how unperfect it may be, because we may not have the honour to always do so. |
